About

I am Milon Syed, the editor of the little magazine AkaalBodhon and a passionate socio-cultural activist from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I was born on September 29, 1979 (though my actual birthdate is September 15, 1979) in Chikonmati, Nilphamari. My education began at Shaheed Smrity Government Primary School in Domar, eventually leading to a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the National University in 2001.

Influenced by my uncle, I became actively involved in student politics and cultural organizations, including the Bangladesh Chhatra League and Domar Shahitya O Shanskrity Parishad. In 2007, I founded KOBITASSROM (কবিতাশ্রম), a recitation organization that eventually led to the publication of AkaalBodhon in 2011, where I serve as editor and publisher. Through the magazine, I explore political and social issues in Bangladesh, with a focus on governance inconsistencies.

In 2013, I was actively involved in the Shahbagh movement, also known as GanaJagaran Mancho, which called for the maximum punishment of war criminals from 1971. Early in the movement, I published a special issue of AkaalBodhon, marking its first publication related to the movement. Alongside my comrades, we organized two major events: the first involved lighting 6,800 candles on the road with the message "Hang war criminals and ban Jaamat-Shibir." On February 21, we lit 1,952 clay lamps to convey "Ban Jaamat-Shibir.".
